Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Run For Rwanda 5K?

All are welcome to lace up and join our 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run in Parsippany, NJ on Saturday, October 22, 2022 hosted by Liquid Church! Not only will you get the opportunity to participate in a chip-timed race, you’re taking steps to bring clean, safe, drinking water to the people of Rwanda - a country striving to be the first in Africa with 100% access to clean water.

Clean water has the ability to change lives! It’s the foundation for all other levels of development. For the millions of thirsty people in Rwanda, safe water can ultimately transform their health, safety, education, and livelihoods. Now, that’s making an impact!

Where and when is the Run For Rwanda?

The Run For Rwanda takes place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Parsippany, New Jersey. The address for your GPS is 299 Webro Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054. Check out our schedule of events for a breakdown of the big day.

What is the 1 Mile Fun Run?

In addition to our Run For Rwanda 5K, we’re hosting a 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, October 22nd. We believe this option provides an opportunity for more people to participate and help bring clean water to Rwanda. So, go ahead and self-select which race is best for you, your friends and family. And if you find it more fun to walk or to bring your baby stroller, you’re welcome to do so!

How does my participation benefit Rwanda?

The Run For Rwanda raises vital funds to support the Clean Water Cause. Those funds will provide clean water wells, sanitation access, and hygiene training to the people of Rwanda in the region of Busasamana.

Why Rwanda? The people of Rwanda have an ambitious goal of becoming the first country in Africa with 100% access to clean water. Right now a third of Rwandans are drinking dirty water because they have no other option. That water makes them sick, keeps children from getting an education, and adults from earning a good living. The good news is… clean water can transform lives and your participation makes a difference.

Who is invited to participate in the Run For Rwanda?

All are welcome to participate - all ages and stages! Invite family and friends to join you - they can run or walk and even bring a baby stroller. Or they can always serve as your personal cheering section - not only will they have fun encouraging you along the way - they’ll enjoy our expo and indoor funtivities for kids.

Are walkers and participants with strollers welcome?

Yes. You may walk or use a stroller in both the 5K and Fun Run. We simply ask participants with strollers to please start near the back of the group to avoid obstructing other runners.

Are bikes, rollerblades or scooters welcome on the racecourse?

No. For the safety of our participants - no bikes, rollerblades, or scooters of any kind are welcome on the racecourse. The only “wheels” allowed belong to wheelchairs and strollers.

Will there be water stations on the racecourse?

Yes! We will have two water stations at mile points throughout the racecourse.

Can children participate in the 5K or Fun Run?

Absolutely! We’d love to have children run/walk with family and friends. Additionally, children will enjoy funtivities during the event!

What is the Clean Water Cause?

Around the world, 711 million people on the planet still lack access to clean, safe, drinking water. At Liquid Church, Clean Water is our global cause - and we envision a day when every person on the planet has access to clean, safe, drinking water! That’s why we’re committed to sending financial support and manpower to countries around the world. By participating in the Run For Rwanda, you are helping to bring clean water to the thirsty - thank you! To learn more about the Clean Water Cause and how to get involved, click here.

Why does this race benefit Rwanda?

Rwanda is a country still healing from the horrific 1994 genocide that killed 1 million people in 100 days. Rwandans have embarked on an incredible journey of grace and forgiveness that’s helped stabilize the country for a new generation. But, approximately one-third of Rwandans still lack access to safe drinking water, which is essential for true, lasting progress. Clean water is the foundation for all other levels of development. For the millions of thirsty people in Rwanda, safe water can ultimately transform their health, safety, education, and livelihoods.

That’s why the people of Rwanda have set an ambitious goal: to become the first country in Africa with 100% access to clean water. We are committed to coming alongside them to help Rwanda reach the finish line!

Funds raised through the Run For Rwanda will provide clean water wells, sanitation access, and hygiene training to the people of Rwanda in the region of Busasamana. Will you help us finish the race to clean water?
